St Mary Magdalene C of E School
Project Overview
Back in 2016, a £45million all-through school was commissioned on the Greenwich Peninsula, catering for up to 1,646 children from Nursery to Sixth Form ages.
With such a large number of pupils to cater to, the site span approximately 2 hectares of land, which meant it was a major requirement to provide perimeter demarcation. This would then prevent unauthorised access into the school for security and student safety. In terms of this full perimeter fencing, the chosen fencing system was CLD Fencing Systems Dulok-Lite with 656 Twin Wire Mesh panels which made it a cost-effective but high-quality school fencing.
In terms of their playground fencing, they required an added bit of security with the requirement of ‘screen from view’ perimeters to ensure that the children could play with no distraction and keep the entirety of the school safe during their playtime. This was achieved through the use of our Exempla system, with the help of a fencing contractor to include wooden screens.
As this site location was so large the client also requested internal systems to provide safe and secure areas for staff and students. The RoTop Mesh Fencing was chosen alongside Dulok Sports and LockMaster Swing Gates for access control to match each infill.
The Brief
With such a major upgrade in security for the £45million school, they had a number of specific requirements for the project:
- Complete upgrade of perimeter demarcation to prevent vandals and intruders
- Fully bespoke screen from view playground fencing to restrict visibility onto the grounds
- School safe internal fencing system
- Fully enclosed MUGA pitches that have the ability to rebound balls back into play
- Matching swing gates throughout the premises that blend into their fence line
Systems Used
We wanted to create a modern look to the play area fencing. It was important to the school and the design that natural screen from view was used. By using the Exempla mesh panels we were able to install wooden slats. The SafeTFix system gives the added advantage of no external fixings.
