NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital
Project Overview
During this COVID-19 outbreak, no one can say this has been business as usual. The NHS has been stretched to its limit with many key workers putting their own health at risk to save lives.
So, when members of our Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) were approached to provide NHS Scotland the physical security they needed to protect their first pop-up hospital, they contacted CLD Fencing Systems.
As the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of Rigid Mesh Fencing Systems we wanted to help frontline organisations stay safe during this crisis, forming a Rapid Response Physical Security Team, consisting of ACS members located across Britain.
On the 3rd of April 2020, Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland announced they were to build and open a temporary hospital, dedicated to COVID-19 patients, on the Scottish Events Campus (SEC). This £43m facility located in Glasgow was set to care for non-critical patients or those who were recovering. Holding more than 1,000 beds, it was designed to help safeguard the NHS, taking the strain off permanent hospitals, allowing them to get back to day-to-day duties and other non COVID-19 medical emergencies.
Almost 600m of FenceSafe Eclipse Temporary Fencing and Security Gates were manufactured by CLD Fencing Systems and deployed by ACS members A-Plant (Sunbelt Rental). With this being a vital project that needed rapid response, our team of experts were finished within 24 hours of arriving on site.
The Brief
One of the key areas for this particular project was the requirement for a temporary perimeter that would offer the same level of security measures as its permanent counterpart. CLD Fencing Systems needed to comply with the specific conditions set out from the clients, which included:
- Perimeter security system
- Fully temporary fencing and gate solutions with the same benefits from permanent fence line
- Creation of safe zones
- Rapid installation
Systems Used
With this project requiring vital security to protect this temporary hospital, CLD Fencing Systems were on hand with their Rapid Response Physical Security Team. Their FenceSafe solution was exactly what we were looking for, with its foundation free structure with all the security of a permanent fence line.
