On Ground & Temporary Security
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

Project Overview
London played host to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2018, as it welcomed 53 World Leaders and over 2,000 delegates to the capital.
With all eyes looking at London, the Metropolitan Police Services wanted to provide an enjoyable but safe experience for all those attending and viewing on television around the world.
LIVE Barriers, a division of A-Plant work alongside the Met Police and Counter Terrorism Police to provide a supply and install service for barrier protection across the capital. Having previously worked with CLD Fencing Systems on projects such as Glastonbury and the launch of Connect for HS2 alliance, their first thought was the FenceSafe Eclipse system that they hold in stock for rapid deployment.
The system was proposed and signed off by the relevant departments including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for deployment on the Mall and in Green Park. In total almost 1km of the temporary event fencing system was used on the project with turnstiles and temporary swing gates for vehicular access.

The Metropolitan Police Services and Counter Terror police had a number of key requirements for the fencing that would form part of the protective detail for 53 World Leaders.
- Zero Ground Strike System
- Ability to take screen from view banners
- Easy to install
- Offer a higher level of security than standard temporary fencing
- Ability to incorporate Turnstiles and Swing Gates
Systems Used

Since it has been up at the event we have had a number of people looking at it. Our names are on the bases and we have had a number of phone calls about what the product is and the benefits of the system. We are very happy with it, with great feedback on FenceSafe.
