Colbalt Business Park

Project Overview
At 1.5 million sq ft, the Cobalt Business Park is the UK’s largest office park. The development is home to a number of public and private organisations such as the Department for Work and Pensions, North Tyneside Council, Utility Wise, Procter & Gamble, and Accenture.
Along with the offices, the park also houses three data centres, designed to store data for companies. These Data Centres cover 10,000 sq M of Data Hall space, making it one of the largest carrier-neutral wholesale co-location campuses in the North.
The three data centres at Cobalt Park are so large that the business park has its own dedicated supply from the National Grid. It also has a backup system to ensure that the computers at the facility never go offline and a range of security measures including double fencing and mantraps.
CLD Systems was approached to design, manufacture and supply Data Centre Fencing for the project, all of which were installed by a member of CLD Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) network.

The Brief
Physical security was key for the creation of a Fencing and Gate package to protect over 10,000m2 of data hall space.
- 358 LPS 1175 SR1 Fencing System
- Anti-Climb Mesh
- Sawtooth Security Topping
- Upgradable System in event of change in security requirements
- Various Physical Access Control Systems
Systems Used

With a double layer of Securus SR1 from CLD Fencing Systems, our security teams were able to create a Sterile Zone around the Data Centre in which both fencing systems had a delay time on an attack of at least 60 seconds.
