We are delighted to announce, that we have implemented the ISO 14001: Environmental Management Systems (EMS) into CLD Fencing Systems processes and practices.

After initial reviews, planning of the ISO 14001 project and training the organisation on the standard, we have been awarded the certification.

We know some people probably won’t know what this standard is or don’t know much about it. So, we wanted to let you know what it is and why CLD Fencing Systems have implemented this standard.

What is the ISO 14001 certification?

ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and is the most used EMS in the world, with approximately over 360,000 ISO 14001 certificates globally. It’s a systematic framework that manages the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of an organisation’s products, services, and processes. This certification gives the assurance to stakeholders that the businesses environmental management system meets international industry specific requirements and standards.

The EMS ISO 14001 helps businesses control their environmental aspects, reduce their impacts, and ensure they are completely compliant with legal procedures. According to the NQA Global Certification Body, studies have shown that nearly 70% of total office waste is recyclable; however, only 7.5% actually reaches recycling facilities.

How does ISO 14001 help CLD Fencing Systems Ltd?

The ISO 14001 provides a framework for environmental management best practices that CLD Fencing Systems have been able to implement into their ways of working. It helps minimise our environmental footprint and reduce risk of pollution incidents. Whilst reducing these risks, it also provides the business with improvements in our operations and ensures compliance with any relevant environmental legislation. Leading to the development of sustainably approached business.

  • With this, what are the benefits of working with an ISO 14001 compliant company?

As mentioned before, the ISO 14001 can really help a business become environmentally aware of how they operate and ways in which they can improve their carbon footprint. But what are the benefits of working with an ISO 14001 company?

The ISO 14001 standard guides businesses to reduce their consumption and wastage and allows for recycling processes to be implemented effectively. This is a huge part of why CLD Fencing Systems decided to get ISO 14001 certification, helping to reach our personal green strategy. It also benefits those who work with us on projects, especially within the construction industry and the sustainable construction targets. The requirements for the net-zero carbon initiatives is that not only does the company have to be environmentally aware of their production, so does their supply chain. This means that we are accredited and proven to be a sustainably aware business, so working with us will not reflect badly on your net-zero carbon targets, but help you meet them!

  • Following on from this point, the ISO 14001 helps CLD manage our environmental risks contributing to the wider green strategies from both the business, supply chains and the industry to protect the planet. We know we must reduce our impacts being within the manufacturing industry and the ISO 14001 supports this process. If we as a manufacturer can support sustainable initiatives with improvement on processes and procedures, then it opens the door for many more companies to follow suit.

With the ISO 14001 standard being a universal certification, it is recognised by many around the world. This helps with compliance with individual country’s environmental regulations. So, if you are an international business or work with a lot of the companies that may be outside the UK, then this standard gives you peace of mind that we are still sustainably friendly regarding specific standards across the world. It cuts out any unnecessary confusion around whether a procedure is sustainable or not.

Finally, the ISO 14001 certification demonstrates our commitment to improving the environment, and the standard helps us understand and implement best practices for us to be a sustainably aware manufacturer. If you’re also dedicated to your green strategies, whatever industry you’re in, this benefits you working with an ISO 14001 certified company as both strategies align with each other. It helps when working together, you know both businesses will consider each other’s green initiatives.
