How we’re catering to small events as well as world-renowned sports venues in the UK.

There are many new and exciting opportunities in British sport, largely brought about by modern artificial sports pitches and state-of-the-art venues. Whether you’re building new tennis courts, installing a ball games area for your school or investing in a brand-new football stadium, it’s vital to prioritise the safety of your players and spectators when choosing sports fencing.

Thinking carefully about the kind of sports fencing that would be most appropriate for your facility will reap dividends, not only in terms of security, but in long term maintenance and even insurance premiums.

CLD Fencing are proud to be the leading manufacturer and supplier of Rigid Mesh Security Fencing and Security Gates in the United Kingdom. To date, over half of UK Premier League Clubs have benefited from CLD Fencing Systems at their training facilities. However, we cater to much smaller venues too, and have worked on projects of varying sizes across the UK.

  • CLD Fencing really are leading the way in the world of sports fencing. Some great examples of this are the sports fencing we supplied and installed for the Etihad Training Complex and ball stop netting for Tottenham Hotspur.

  • During the initial stages of project conception, CLD Fencing Systems were contacted by the architects working on the Etihad Training Complex. We provided professional design input for both the Perimeter and Sports Pitch Fencing System and the Gate Solution, which were essential to the final outcome. Described as ‘A structure for the future,’ by Sheikh Mansour, the final solution included:

Our project managers worked with our approved contractor to keep customer care at the forefront throughout development. This resulted in a completed project that complemented the Manchester City brand and the type of environment they wished to create.

Ball stop netting for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

CLD Fencing also supplied and installed ball stop netting at Tottenham Hotspur. This helped the team to play out the season during the demolition of the North-East corner of White Hart Lane.

We came up with an aesthetically pleasing solution that stopped balls from entering the construction area. This offered a safe and secure system for spectators and was in keeping with the Tottenham Hotspur brand.

CLD Fencing worked on the final design in CAD before it was approved by the club. Our construction partners then worked with us to begin the manufacture of the ball stop netting at our factory in Cheshire. The system featured:

·         Custom posts and struts

·         A unique winching system

·         Ball Stop Netting – 458m² Triangular in Tottenham Blue

But it’s not only high-profile projects such as these that we work on. CLD Fencing also have a wealth of experience in working with smaller venues. These include York Velodrome, who have used our Sports Rail for spectators, Grasshoppers (a local rugby club) and even a rooftop MUGA pitch.

York velodrome sports fencing

CLD Fencing Systems were asked to design and manufacture a safety velodrome track barrier system for the York Velodrome, which included a Sports Rail with a Securus mesh infill. This option, whilst good, came out over budget.

The CLD team swiftly came up with an alternative design. This not only brought the project within budget, but also improved the aesthetics.

This velodrome track railing was primarily built for safety, so smooth edges were crucial to the design. The top rail had to be a set height and continuous for the whole track, and special clamps were manufactured to pick up the top rail and seal the joints. The Securus infill panels used further innovation to provide a flush fitting system, which was of the utmost importance to rider safety.

Following a few minor adjustments to the sports fencing designs to conform to regulatory requirements, they were approved by British Cycling. The velodrome sports fencing was manufactured in CLD’s factory and delivered to site in under four weeks.
